Mononiketan | Mental Health and Wellness Centre

Overview

Mononiketan is the Mental Health and Wellness Centre of Brainware University, developed in close association with the Department of Psychology. It is a university-wide space for counselling, emotional support, wellbeing practices, creative engagement, and meaningful campus participation. Along with serving the wider Brainware community, it also functions as an important extension of the Department's academic and developmental activities.

Student Learning and Exposure

Through Mononiketan, students of the Department of Psychology, especially at the postgraduate level, receive guided exposure to wellbeing-oriented work. This includes supervised observation, participation in awareness initiatives, and opportunities to understand how emotional support systems function within an institutional setting. Such exposure helps students connect classroom learning with applied practice in an ethical and interdisciplinary environment.

Areas of Activity

Mononiketan includes a wide range of activities linked to holistic wellbeing, such as:

  • Counselling and emotional support
  • Wellbeing practices and guided self-regulation
  • Art, music, and movement-based engagement
  • Yoga, fitness, and holistic balance
  • Workshops, awareness sessions, and outreach
  • Student observation, supervised exposure, and practical learning

Research and Innovation Scope

The Centre also creates important opportunities for student learning in areas such as mental health communication, documentation, wellbeing programme design, supervised participation, and research. It further opens up academic scope for studying support systems, student wellbeing patterns, institutional care models, and the future role of digital tools and automation in mental health and wellness services.

Departmental Significance

Mononiketan is not only a support space for the Brainware community, but also a meaningful part of the Department of Psychology’s effort to prepare students for responsible, applied, and future-ready engagement with psychology, wellbeing, and human development.
